Our goal in creating the HD Odyssey
is to provide a perfect environment
for artists to learn more about the
HDV format, the corresponding HDV
cameras and how to shoot them
underwater. We provide our students
with an unforgettable six day cage
diving excursion to film the great white sharks of Guadalupe Island.

Guadalupe is an isolated island lying 150 miles off the Pacific
coast of Mexico. It is surrounded by 12,000 feet of water, and
has a large population of migrating elephant seals that attract
white sharks, oceanic white tips, blue sharks and mako sharks.

Though in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, no amenities will be
spared. We charter The Nautilus Explorer, one of the world’s
most renowned live aboard dive vessels. The Nautilus is
equipped with shark cages designed specifically for
photographers and videographers to get the best shots
possible of the 16' white sharks these islands attract. Each
cage is 9 feet long and has wraparound bi-level viewing ports
set up to allow videographers the most unobstructed view
possible.

When the shooting is done, we teach nightly seminars on the
proper techniques for shooting, editing and outputting the
footage gathered during the day’s adventures. A front row seat
to the ocean’s most aggressive apex predators provides the
world’s best classroom for natural history filmmakers.
